Pet Policies

The purpose of daycare and/or boarding is to provide a safe, fun, and stimulating environment with an emphasis on positive experiences that include interaction and socialization with other friendly dogs. To ensure the safety and health of all our dogs, we require that everyone comply with the following rules and requirements.

Coming In:  All dogs must be securely leashed and remain so when coming in for daycare and/or boarding.

Age: Puppies are permitted to attend daycare and/or boarding but must have the initial series of shots started with a veterinarian.

Spay/Neuter Policy: We can and will allow dogs to attend daycare and/or boarding that are NOT spayed (and not bleeding) or neutered, however, females in heat will play alone with a staff member and males who are not neutered must be on their best behavior.  Intact males showing signs of aggression or think they are at a hump party, will play alone with a staff member.

Required Vaccinations: All dogs entering the facility must have up-to-date vaccinations on record in Gingr. Owners must submit proof from their veterinarian that their dog is current on the following vaccinations:

  • Rabies (1 year or 3 year)

  • Distemper Combo (including Leptospirosis)

  • Bordetella

Parasite Prevention: All dogs entering the facility must be free of parasites, including fleas, ticks and intestinal parasites. For Daycare attendance, we do require that all dogs be on a heartworm and flea preventative prescribed by their Veterinarian as well as be current on annual fecal testing. Tick prevention is recommended and we encourage you to talk to your Veterinarian about appropriate products.

Health: All dogs entering the facility must be in good health and free from any condition that could potentially jeopardize the health of other dogs.

Behavior: All dogs attending Daycare must not show signs of towards other dogs or people. All “parents” will need to certify that their dog has no history of aggression.

Enrollment: Registration of owners and dogs must be completed online via Gingr.  Upon completion of the profile(s), owners can make reservations for daycare and/or boarding.  North Loop requires a first day eval before making reservations for daycare/boarding.

Cancellation Policy: Reservations are required. If you are unable to keep your reservation, we kindly ask that you cancel with a 24 hour notice for daycare and a 7 day notice for boarding. Lack of cancellation in a timely manner (or at all) will result in the loss of your deposit.  This may not apply to all locations.

Restrictions: Barks & Rec reserves the right to refuse enrollment to any dog at any time for any reason. Please be advised that our environment is not suited for every dog and safety is of the utmost importance. If we feel a dog will create an unsafe environment for themselves or anyone else based on any behavior we encounter, they will not be able to participate in our program.
